Goodwill’s Got Talent

Goodwill Fort Worth to Host Talent Show for Employees

WHO:  20 talent show acts featuring Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth employees and S.T.A.R.S. participants; 100 Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth staff, family and friends; Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth President and CEO David Cox; and Vice President of Special Projects Ronnie Conger

WHAT:  Employees of Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth will perform in a “Goodwill’s Got Talent” show. Ten acts in the show will be participants from Goodwill’s S.T.A.R.S. program – a unique day habilitation program for adults with significant mental disabilities. By showcasing their talents in the show, these individuals prove that you can’t hear a person’s abilities when you are only listening for their disabilities and give them the opportunity to demonstrate that their disability does not define them.

First ($150), second ($100) and third ($75) place prizes will be awarded in two divisions – open division and S.T.A.R.S. division. Acts include singers, dancers, a guitarist, a drummer and a comedian.

WHEN:  Friday, August 11, 2017; 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

WHERE:  Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth – S.T.A.R.S. Town Square; 4005 Campus Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76119; (817) 332-7866

WHY:  Goodwill is more than a thrift store. The largest employer of people with disabilities in the world, Goodwill believes that work has the power to transform lives by building self-confidence, independence, creativity, trust and friendships. Everyone deserves this chance.

Goodwill Fort Worth’s 23 retail locations provide revenue through the sale of donated goods to support Goodwill’s mission – job training and career services for people with disabilities, such as physical or mental disabilities and other barriers to employment including lack of education or work experience and homelessness.
