Goodwill North Central Texas Announces 2018 Board of Directors

 

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (March 1, 2018) – Goodwill North Central Texas, Inc. announced today the election of three new members to the nonprofit’s Board of Directors. Dianne Hawkins, Catherine Schmuck and Surnedra Simmons will join the board.

Dianne Hawkins, Ed.D., is an accomplished instructional leader and executive serving as Special Education Director for the Fort Worth Independent School District. With 30+ years’ experience in instructional leadership, Hawkins received a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Texas Wesleyan University. In her position with Fort Worth ISD, Hawkins has worked closely with Goodwill North Central Texas’s Project SEARCH program, providing youth with significant disabilities training and career exploration, innovative adaptations and long-term job coaching as they transition from high school to the working world.

Catherine Schmuck, property manager for Courtney & Courtney Properties, is daughter to longtime Goodwill North Central Texas board member Will A. Courtney, Sr. and will continue the family’s commitment to the nonprofit through board servitude. A longtime specialty retail manager, Schmuck is active in the community through organizations including National Charity League, Institute of Real Estate Management and the Junior League of Fort Worth. She received a bachelor of science in Fashion Design and Art from Texas Christian University.

Surnedra Simmons is a professional school counselor for Southwest High School in the Fort Worth Independent School District. A graduate of Texas Christian University, Simmons is active in the community serving as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., American School Counselors Association, United Educators Association, Lone Star State School Counselor Association and a as a board member for the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

“As we continue to hone the ways we provide our mission services, diversifying our board to include professionals who interact daily with our client population is key,” said David Cox, president & CEO of Goodwill North Central Texas. “The knowledge these new board members bring will improve our ability to fulfill our vision of a community where barriers to employment are eliminated.”
