Finding Success in 2017!

Happy Friday Goodwill Shoppers! It’s Friday!

Recently, we discussed 3 Unusual Resolutions to start the new year and how they can make a positive influence on someone’s day. Whether you followed our guide or made some of your own, you may find yourself slipping back into old habits no matter how much you swore you’d do better this year. To help fight your January battle to keep track of your resolutions, take a look at some of our tips.

  1. Identify Your Strengths: Start small. For example, if you’re a person that works well in the mornings, utilize all your energy in completing projects that focuses on your resolutions. Then, think back on all of your successes and find your strengths and harness them into your daily routine.
  2. Small steps make a big impact: The hardest part of any resolution, is starting. Either it’s getting out of bed earlier or getting out the house for a quick run around the neighborhood. The trick I use is to think of a single word to represent each of your resolutions. Write the word in big letters and post it somewhere in your home. For example, if my resolution is to lead a healthier lifestyle, then I’d put affirmations and reminders around my home to get me motivated for cooking or a workout!
  3. Work smarter, not harder: While giving your 100 percent is the very best way to reach your goals, you won’t be able to do this if you don’t also take some time everyday to decompress. This tip shared by Goodwill Greater Washington(DC) is actually a lesson I’ve learned the hard way. I have tried too hard to do everything and ended up a stressed, exhausted, unproductive mess. Instead of pushing yourself to the limit, look for ways that you can work smarter to get more out of your time and still invest time in yourself so you can start each day refreshed and inspired.
