When it comes to holiday cheer, the people around us will vary from one end of the spectrum (i.e. Buddy the elf) to the other (the Grinch before he discovers the real meaning of Christmas). As we go about our lives at home, at work, and anywhere else our routine takes us between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, we ourselves may even drift between delight from the tinkling of sleigh bells and misery when that one. annoying. song. comes on the radio yet again. So today I wanted to mention three quick tips that will help you get the most out of the upcoming season by enjoying its generous spirit and spreading holiday cheer:
- Donating to Goodwill:
Goodwill relies upon the sales of donated items to create jobs and fund our job training programs for people with disabilities, disadvantages, and other barriers to employment. In fact, 93 cents of every dollar goes into funding these programs. Simply put, your donations help us create jobs and put people back to work, and we believe that work has the power to transform lives. The power of work allows those we serve to gain self-esteem and become independent, self-sufficient citizens. This will definitely warm the hearts of those who have been actively seeking work and will brig in a positive start to the new year!
2. Volunteering:
Volunteering at Goodwill is a great way to make an impact on the lives of people in our community who need a hand up. Whether you’re looking for ways to give back as an individual or you’re looking for corporate opportunities, we can help you get plugged into a great organization that believes in the value of people and the power of work.
